Dr. Horst Bettin
Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB)
Horst Bettin, born in 1955, studied physics at the Technical University of Braunschweig where he completed his PhD at the Institute for Semiconductor Physics and Optics. In 1990 he joined the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt and focused his research mainly on density measurements. He has also been involved in the international Avogadro project. In 2011, he became head of the PTB’s Avogadro project and the CCM Working Group on the Realization of the Kilogram. Since 2016 he has headed the PTB department “Mass – Realization of the Unit”.
